Vietnamese Cuisine

As an Australian born Vietnamese, I have always loved eating Vietnamese cuisine. I guess it's just in the blood. Growing up in a Vietnamese family, I had learned to appreciate and love the countries many dishes, even though some may seem somehow quite "different" to the Australian taste bud. Australians are more laid back when it comes to meal time, whereas Vietnamese people are very pedantic and a meal usually consists of 2 main dish, soup and plain rice. However, there are many stereotypes about Vietnamese people only eating rice, it's not true.

Vietnam is quite famous for several popular dishes. One popular dish which i love is Pho, to the Westerns, pronounced "fur". Pho, a dish from the northern regions is a rice noodle soup typicall served with either chicken or beef, is adored by every Vietnamese, and more recently, loved by many Non-Westerns as well as Westerns. This dish is best served with basil, lime, bean sprouts and peppers as it brings out the richness of the flavour.

Being from Bankstown, a place populated by the Vietnamese culture, Pho is one of the most common dish eaten by the people here. This is because, "Pho An" a well known restaurant, which has been operating for over ten years is the reason why Pho is recently more known by people from other cultures. The flavours accentuated from the broth is amazing which makes each customer to leave no remaining bits behind.

I have been living at this area all my life and I am still very amazed at the amount of customers that go in there each day. People who do not go early would usually have to wait or line up for available seats. However, just one bowl of Pho would make up for all the time lost standing, waiting. I reccomend to all the Pho lovers who do not know about this amazing "Pho specialised restaurant", GO THERE.
